About the winery

The MERLON winery is located in the wine subregion of Velké Pavlovice in the village of Žabčice. Currently we manage 3 hectares of our own vineyards. We produce two lines of wines - FRESH and NATURE. When you visit our winery, located right in the heart of Žabčice vineyards , you will taste our original wines and get to know even more the story of our winery, the story of our family effort.

The village of Žabčice is accessible from Brno by rail, in the direction of Breclav. The winery is about 1 km from the railway station. From Brno, Žabčice is also very accessible by road: one route is along the motorway towards Bratislava, after the turn-off to Blučina and via Židlochovice to Žabčice, the other route is along the expressway towards Mikulov and before the village of Pohořelice along the district road to Žabčice.

Specialties in the menu

We have been producing wines from the Nature series since 2015 for our red wines of the Frankovka, Alibernet and Pinot Noir varieties. They are characterized by a long maceration of the grapes and subsequent lying of the wine in oak barrels on all fermentation lees for a minimum of 12 months, without added sulphur dioxide. The awards that these wines have won have convinced us that this is the right way to exploit the full potential of the grapes and produce a wine of maximum originality. That is why we have applied this technology to part of the next harvest of white wines, namely Pinot Gris and Grüner Veltliner.
