Cabernet Moravia

Entered in the State Register of Grape Varieties in 2001.

This variety was developed by Lubomír Glos in Moravská Nová Ves as a crossing of Cabernet Franc x Zweigeltrebe.

Red wines are deep, of a dark garnety colour and posses supple Cabernet tones on both nose and palate.

CM

It is of vigorous growth and has large leaves of dark colour with superficial indentations. Bunches are medium to large, containing medium-sized dense grapes. Berries are medium to large, round and frosted, having thick blue-black skins that make them resistant to grey rot. The berries have a Cabernet-type smell and are very tasty. Ripening is very late. The yields are excellent and regular. This grape variety belongs in the warmest positions in the warmest regions. For the production of top-quality wines it is necessary to control and regulate the harvest. 

Where the winemaking technology is correctly applied, wines from Cabernet Moravia can be classed among the top red wines from Moravia. 

Red wines are deep, of a dark garnety colour and posses supple Cabernet tones on both nose and palate. After undergoing malo-lactic fermentation they are very round, supple, with well-structured tannins and a long finish. 

Where the winemaking technology is correctly applied, wines from Cabernet Moravia can be classed among the top red wines from Moravia. 

Basic characteristics of quality wines:

Dark garnet colour. The aromatic substances of blackcurrants, typical of the Cabernet varieties, combine with well-structured tannins, which impart a pleasing complexity to the wine after bottle maturation. The wines are typical for red wines from northern regions.
