About us
The agricultural school graduate worked in the hospitality industry and did winemaking in his spare time. Today he farms in an integrated way on four hectares of vineyards in the lines U Kapličky, Železná, Purmice and to supplement the range and increasing volume of production he buys more grapes in the vicinity of Perná from vineyard owners whose vineyards and work he knows intimately. The vineyards come partly from restitution, partly from the parents, the last plantings date back to 1998. His wife Hana helps in the family business, his twenty-four-year-old son Jan is already learning the cellar and his younger son Filip is studying viticulture at the Mendel University in Lednice.
Back to history
At the start of his wine career, Jan Matoušek bought a cellar in Perná, which is now used for wine tastings and guest accommodation. The cellar has regular opening hours, so it is possible to come here unannounced. Groups of up to 12 people can sign up for a tasting - according to the winemaker, visitors like to come back not only for the wine, but also for the nice environment of the tasting cellar and for the home-made delicacies. It can comfortably accommodate up to twelve guests, who can sit in the cellar without the owner being present. The best samples in recent years have regularly included Pálava, Sauvignon, Děvín and Dornfelder.
Our philosophy
When making wine, we make sure to use only healthy grapes. That is why the grape harvesting is essentially done by hand and this allows us to select the right grapes. Our vineyards are located mainly in the Mikulov sub-region and we always draw on proven production methods and the experience of our ancestors. We stick to the philosophy that you can always tell in the wine the love with which the winemaker has cared for the grapes throughout the year and all these little details are always reflected in the taste, which is why our wines are so delicious.
