About the winery

We are a young winery from Slovácko. We are located in Veselí nad Moravou, in close proximity to the popular tourist destination of the Bata Canal. Our philosophy is to produce wine in harmony with nature. We use the most modern technologies that are as gentle as possible to the grapes. At the same time, we draw on a long tradition of winemaking in Moravia - thanks to the vineyards in the foothills of the White Carpathians, our wines have an exceptional character. Our main motivation is our passion for wine. We care about quality, harmony of flavours, we are enthusiastic and we try to discover new, unknown...

The founder of the Dog in Dock winery is Tomáš Zbořil, who has been making wine since 2013. The company entered the market in 2017 and currently manages 2.5 hectares of vineyards in the Slovácké wine sub-region. The investor is the development company Trigema a.s.
The Dog in Dock winery is located at the Bata Canal wharf, one of the most popular tourist areas in South Moravia. The winery itself boasts a rich history - it is located near the Veselí castle and there is a former castle orangery built in the 18th century. It is the heart of the newly emerging cultural and educational wine complex. The place where the Chorinsky family grew tropical fruit some 150 years ago is finally coming to life after many decades, this time thanks to the vine.
Production has now been moved to an area in nearby Boršice u Blatnice, but there is already a young vineyard on the site, which you can walk through in the summer with a glass of wine. There are also plans to build a restaurant on the site, as well as accommodation for 80 people.

Achieved awards

Despite its relatively short history, Dog in Dock has succeeded in several renowned competitions. In 2020, our wines won 2 gold medals at the King of Wines competition - Sauvignon Blanc (2019) and cuvée Will (2019). Dog in Dock also repeated a similar result in the National Wine Competition, where Zweigeltrebe rosé (2019) and Pinot Blanc (2019) were awarded. Chardonnay (2019) won a gold medal at the Prague Wine Trophy, while Frankovka (2019) earned the acclaimed title of Wine of the South Moravian Region 2020.

Specialties in the menu

Our goal is to create a natural product. The grapes are harvested by hand and then processed in a very gentle way without the use of pumps. Using a conveyor belt system, the grapes are destemmed and transported to a press where they are pressed at very low pressure. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, and the selected wines are then aged in wooden barrels.
We focus on the production of wines from typical varieties suitable for the region of Slovácko, in particular Burgundy Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris or Riesling. In our assortment you will find mostly white wines, but we are also proud of our rosé, cuvée and red wines, which we bottle after 2 years of aging in barrels. We supply wines mainly to the gastronomy sector - restaurants, hotels, wine bars, but also to private clients.

Additional offer

The aim of our project is to build a modern winery that will combine educational, representative and tasting facilities including amenities with leisure use.
From May to September, tastings of the full range of wines take place on the premises of the winery in Veselí nad Moravou. Guided tours and tastings can also be arranged on request at our current premises in Boršice u Blatnice.
