About the winery

České vinařské závody a. s. continues the rich tradition of wine production in Bohemia, which is referred to in the legends of St.Wenceslas and the oldest Czech chronicles as early as the 10th century. At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, several companies engaged in wine production were established in Prague. They processed increasing volumes of wines from Moravia, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Yugoslavia and other countries. In the second half of the 20th century, Czech wine factories continued this tradition, focusing on the production of sweet branded wines, which are still popular today. In May 2007, České vinařské závody a. s. bought VINIUM a. s. Velké Pavlovice. The original production plant in Žamberk was closed down and primary processing was completely transferred to Velké Pavlovice. České vinařské závody has 40 employees. The chief technologist is Pavel Hejl. Wine for production is purchased from VINIUM a.s., which obtains grapes from contractors and small growers mainly from the Velkopavlovice sub-region, but also from other Moravian sub-regions from a total area of 2 500 ha. The best known and most popular wine of the ČVZ is the famous Původní sklepmistr (white, red and rosé), whose label actually bears the name of the then cellar master Josef Benda from the Prague plant in Nusle. The long tradition of the product has been continued by the Czech Winery with a new product launched in 2010 - Perlivý sklepmistr white and red wine. Other well-known and popular brands include Dačický Cup, Bušek z Velhartic, Victoria bianco and Victoria rosso dessert wines. The company also produces a wide range of wines from South Moravia in 0.75 l and 1.0 l packages (varietal, vintage, attribute wines and various versions of gift packages) and also bottles foreign wines from Italy and Chile. In 2011, the company launched a new product - semi-sweet white, rosé and red wine FLAŠKA (the website www.hrajflasku.cz was created to present this product). The annual production volume using state-of-the-art technology is around 7.5 million bottles. Sales are concentrated in a wide network of retail chains and food wholesalers.
