About the winery

The young wine company HOTAŘ Čejkovice s. r. o. was founded in 2009 by partners with extensive experience in viticulture, winemaking, gastronomy and tourism. The company uses grapes from vineyards in the best Čejkovice vineyards. The varietal spectrum is wide, with whites focused on Pinot Gris and Chardonnay, while blue varieties are largely processed into clarets and rosés, including Alibernet. Václav Herzán is the viticulturist who planted all the vineyards, his son Ing. Marek Herzán. He produces white wines, clarets and rosés by gently pressing the grapes on a pneumatic press and by controlled fermentation of the fermented musts. He leaves them on the natural yeasts from the vineyard, rosé and clarets are fermented with noble yeasts. Some batches of reds are fermented in vinifiers, some in open wooden vats with subsequent malic acid decomposition. The red wines are neither clarified nor filtered. Most of the wines are aged in stainless steel tanks, including the reds, for which the cellar master emphasises fruit character. The winery is equipped with newly acquired state-of-the-art technology, with a total capacity of 50,000 bottles. The winery is connected to the Albor hotel and guesthouse in the centre of Čejkovice, a restaurant and wine bar open daily, where groups of up to 50 people can book a guided tasting.
