The TOP 77 wines competition in the Czech Republic is the first independent wine competition that was recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture in 1999. From the very beginning, 77 wines from Moravian winemakers were awarded but due to the development the competition was expanded with a further TOP 11 wines from the Czech region.

It is also interesting to separate the categories of dry wines and others as their champions are different in order not to distort and favour wines with a higher content of residual sugar. In 2013, 3 categories were created - the TOP 77 wines which can be awarded to more than 200 wines in the categories of white dry wines, red and rosé dry wines and other white, rosé and red wines. Since 2014, they have also started to include foreign wines that can be bought in the Czech Republic.
