O vinařství

A recent addition to the community of winemakers in Velkopavlovice, for whom winemaking is a hobby and a trade at the same time, is Vlastimil Řádek. Before he founded his own wine company in 2007, this graduate of the Secondary Wine School in Valtice worked as a bottling master in Vino Velké Pavlovice and Vino Rakvice. He cultivated the family vineyards in Stará hora, Išperky, Bojanovska and Novosady while working. He sold some of the grapes and processed some of them in Zelnice Street in the historic cellar he inherited from his parents. In 2008, he joined two other entrepreneurial winemakers in the traditional cellar location and together they prepared the Zelnice Cellar Spa project. With a bit of exaggeration and recession, they took up the ancient folk healing - village felchars, miracle doctors and charlatans. The cellar where Vlastimil Řádek processes the harvest has been in the family for only a few decades. The Řádeks added a modern pressing room for grape processing and seating in the attic to the century-old underground passage in 1989. The winery is based on traditional "peasant" winemaking techniques proven over generations. They are also available in selected wine shops. The beautiful, historic, 200-year-old cellar is currently undergoing a complete renovation. The first visitors are expected in 2013.

Základní charakteristika vína

Müller Thurgau is our fifth most cultivated white variety (9.46%), so it is produced by almost all wine producers. Müller from Valtice, Mikulov, Znojmo, Mělnicko or Žernoseky is definitely worth a try. Müller Thurgau is best drunk as a young wine under two to three years of age. This, together with its early maturation, is one of the reasons why it is one of the main varieties of St. Martin's wines.
