Mikulášek Winery in Vičice was founded in 2012 as a family business by Alois Mikulášek and his sons Robert and Jakub. Although Březno u Chomutova (where Vičice falls) is not well known to wine lovers, it is a historical place associated with the cultivation of grapes since at least the 13th century.
The variety was bred by the director of the wine school in Klosterneuburg in Austria, Dr. F. Zweigelt in 1922 and its expansion to other countries was credited after the Second World War to Dr. Lenz Moser.
