About the winery

The unique Chateau Cellar is one of the oldest and largest wine cellars in the Czech Republic. Already in the 12th century, when a medieval castle stood above this cellar, quality Valtice wines were aged here. In 1430, this cellar was reconstructed by the prominent Liechtenstein family, who built a winery here when they discovered that the conditions for wine production were excellent in the Valtice and Mikulov regions. These foundations were built on by the family winery CHÂTEAU VALTICE, whose best red wines are still aged here in wooden oak barrels, making full use of the cellar's total capacity of 500,000 litres.

The chateau cellar is located in the grounds of Valtice Castle, to the left of the entrance staircase.
