The course allows you to acquire basic skills and practical knowledge about green work in the vineyard. This is all the work operations during the intensive growth of the vines, in this case one of the most important - the undercutting (i.e. the manual removal of all excess, thickening or damaged freshly cut vines on the bush). You will gain the confidence and courage not to be afraid to "remove everything from the bush that doesn't belong there". The theoretical teaching will be conveniently combined with practical demonstrations directly in the vineyard about 500 meters away from the teaching room. Graduates should be able to master the undercutting of the now standard Rhine-Hessian line with a horizontal pull or the Vertik (vertical cordon).

The following topics will be covered in the theoretical training:
- Description of the so-called green works.
- Their importance and optimal time of execution.

The practical part will take place in the vineyard of MENDELU, Institute of Viticulture and Enology, where a number of varieties are grown (there is a gene pool of vines of the Czech Republic) with different growth and habit, which results in different laboriousness and approach within the green works. We will focus on undercutting (in olden days "mixing"), which is another very important operation after pruning to ensure the quality of the final harvest (by reducing the number of left over plants).
