About winemaker

The family company of Lubomír Gregorović and Ivana Svobodová has built a production facility in Milotice, equipped the cellar with modern technologies, planted new vineyards and won champion awards at several international competitions. The idea of establishing a winery was born in Lubomír Gregorović's head in 2005, when as a smallholder he began to try new methods. In the beginning, he relied on grape growers from the selected localities of Čejkovice, Milotice, Terezín and Skoronice, from whom he takes grapes to this day. In April 2008, he planted his first vineyards in the Kopce area. In Milotice, Metroflora bought and renovated a municipal building into a production cellar, administrative facilities and a tasting room in 2007. In the covered part of the courtyard there is an area for processing grapes, and the building is connected to an air-conditioned bottle storage. The winery is equipped with stainless steel technology from the grape intake to the pumps, filters, and two tanks with controlled fermentation under nitrogen atmosphere. Older Mercier barriques are used to age the red wines, and the winery has recently added new barriques, a larger pneumatic press, kalolis, a gentle pump, filtration, and additional stainless steel tanks. The winery has ten employees, mostly family - son Tomáš handles sales, while Marek and Dalibor work in the vineyards and cellar. The winery relies on modern vinification methods. It cooperates with Radim Osička, a viticulturist and winemaker from Velkobílovice, who prepares red wines for Metroflora. Recently, the winery has included in its product portfolio the country wines (with guaranteed grape origin and quality) intended mainly for gastronomy.

Basic characteristics of wine

Gewürztraminer or Traminer rot is white wine. More precisely, it is a variety of white wine. So why is it called red? This is due to the reddish colour of the grapes. It is grown in all sub-areas, most of which can be found in the Velkopavlovice, Bzenec, Mikulov or Čáslav or Most regions. As with Pálava, Traminer will show its beauty, aroma and spiciness especially in the dry version.
