About winemaker

The family winery of Jaroslav Tichý and his sons Jaroslav and Lukáš belongs to small wineries with an annual production of about 40 000 l of wine (about 30 000 bottles). It was founded in 1997 by Jaroslav Tichý Sr. He gained his long experience in MVZ in Znojmo and Šatov, later as a winemaker in an agricultural cooperative. The wines it produces fully represent the north-western terroir of the Znojmo wine sub-region. Here, grapes are grown on loess and gravel-clay soils in a wide variety of varieties. The warm and dry climate is influenced by occasional cooling from the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Thanks to the alternation of sunny days and cooler nights, the grapes ripen more slowly but retain more of their fragrance. The resulting wines are full-bodied, aromatic, with fresh acidity, mineral, fruity and floral notes. Exclusivity and originality are underlined by smaller production batches. The grapes come from the nearby vineyards of Petrovice, Dobelice, Míšovice and Trboušany. The most important route is the Kokusove hory. The winery is located in the village of Rybníky near Moravský Krumlov. In 1708 Rybníky was granted the privilege of half the right of free infusion of wine, which was confirmed by the seal 'Ribnicka pecziet'. It is also depicted on the winery's labels. The production and tasting cellar is situated in a listed former (originally Baroque) water mill, which is a dominant feature of the village. The company focuses on the production of quality wines with the use of modern technology and knowledge. The winery strives to produce light, fresh and fruity wines with an emphasis on purity and harmony.

Basic characteristics of wine

Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the four most popular blue varieties in the world. In our country it is grown exclusively in Moravia, it is most widespread in the Mikulov and Velkopavlovice subregions, it is excellent in the vicinity of Hustopeče and Mutěnice. Cabernet wines mature relatively slowly and their quality increases with age. Therefore, they are suitable for long-term archiving.
