About the winery

Because Velké Pavlovice is located in the Blue Mountains micro-region, which is called the land of red wines due to its sloping position and soil composition, our philosophy is to produce high quality red wines typical of our region such as Frankovka, André, Modrý Portugal and Svatovavřinecké. Of the white varieties, the main ones are Riesling, Grüner Veltliner and Neuburg. The annual production is around 25 thousand bottles, mainly for private clients.

The company Mezi Horami was founded in 1991 with the arrival of a new partner in the winery Procházka. Because Velké Pavlovice is located in the Blue Mountains micro-region, which is called the land of red wines due to its slopes and soil composition, our philosophy is to produce high quality red wines. The aim is not to have all varieties, but we focus on historically typical wines for our region, such as Frankovka, André, Modrý Portugal, Svatovavřinecké and Pinot Noir. However, Velké Pavlovice is not just about red wines. White varieties also do very well here. Here, too, we are dedicated to the traditional varieties, Veltliner, Riesling, Tramin red and Riesling, which are characterised by their spicy structure. In our rosé wines, we require that the character of the red wine be preserved, which we achieve by macerating the grapes for longer. As a result, such rosé is not just a seasonal affair, but a wine for several years. Our speciality is original cuvées, full of unexplored secrets, new flavours and aromas. Finding the right wines and combining them in the right proportions to create a complex and exceptional wine is what we enjoy. A good wine needs time to develop its flavours, aromas and fullness. That's why our wines are aged on fine yeasts using the old French Sur-lie method. We take our time on bottling and even aim to sell our red wines when they are bottle-aged, which can sometimes be after 5 years. We want to be 100% clear about what grapes our wines are made from, so we only make wines from our own vineyards. The vineyards are 10 hectares in size, with the most important ones being over 30 years old. These vines are already producing the best quality grapes thanks to their root system. We produce around 25 thousand bottles per year, mainly for private clients.
