Zdeněk Drábek's journey as a winemaker began at the age of 15, when he and his stepfather were making wine for their own consumption. Later he was employed by a large wine company where he gained experience as a cellarman for 20 years.

In 2017, he decided to return to small winemaking again and founded Víno Drábek. Currently, the vineyard area is 20 acres, where the vines are over 18 years old and consist of 3 varieties. It grows Veltliner, Sauvignon and Zweigeltrebe. He plans to expand the vineyard acreage, but only to the extent that he can still farm it by hand.

I am involved in the production of the wine myself, which at the size of his production is sufficient. Of course, the whole family helps with the whole winery. The philosophy is to stick to tradition and use mainly older methods for wine production. He is not afraid of new things, but older technologies are closer to his heart. In the production of wine he emphasizes mainly healthy grapes and clean environment.

What he enjoys most about winemaking is when I manage to produce a really good quality wine that customers appreciate. The most motivating thing is the praise for a job well done.

He plans to expand his wine cellar and his production. However, this is only a production of 2,000 litres per year, as he is involved in the production of the wine himself and would therefore like to give only the best to the wine.
