At the beginning of August, the 24th annual competition for the best-rated organic wine from the Czech Republic was announced at the National Wine Centre in Valtice as part of the national competition for the Best Organic Food of the Year. The absolute winner and holder of the title Biovine of the Year 2025 was Pálava, berry selection 2024 from the production of the Víno Marcinčák Mikulov organic winery.
Organic winery Víno Marcinčák Mikulov confirmed its dominance in organic winemaking and won several key awards. In addition to the absolute victory, it also took the title of Champion of White Wines for Riesling, Ice Wine 2018. The Champion of Red Wines was the Frankovka Lizniperky, VOC Blue Mountains 2022 from the Víno J. Stávek winery .
"I have chaired the commission of this competition for the umpteenth time and I am glad that the quality of organic wines in our country is steadily improving," said the chairman of the commission Michal Šetka, adding that he knowsThe winning Pálava is an example of the attractive expression of this variety in its sweet version, which resulted in a pure, captivating wine with typical aromas.
Two committees of experts, led by Michal Šetka, evaluated 83 Moravian and Czech wines and awarded them 3 large gold, 28 gold and 30 silver medals. The public presentation and the opportunity to taste these wines will be 12-14. September during the Pálava Wine Festival in Mikulov, together with the wines from the National Wine Competition - Mikulov Wine Subregion.
Organic Wine of the Year is organised by PRO-BIO Association of Organic Farmers, Association of Winegrowers of Mikulov Wine Subregion, EKOVÍN - Association of Integrated and Organic Grape and Wine Production and the Association of Winegrowers of the Czech Republic. It is open to all organic wines from the Czech Republic that are certified organic and meet the basic statute of the competition. The aim of the competition is to compare and evaluate organic wines from different wine-growing regions, municipalities and and routes in the Czech Republic and to promote the sale and production of the highest quality organic wines originating in the Czech Republic.
