At the beginning of September, Moravian and Czech wines were again presented in the world when they scored at the summer part of the MUNDUS VINI competition in Germany. Z 33. one of the most strictly evaluated world wine competitions, our winemakers took home 26 gold and 14 silver medals. The participation of wines from the Czech Republic was financially supported by the Wine Fund and organized by the National Wine Centre.

The most successful Moravian winery at the competition was B\V winery from Moravian Ratíškovice, which with 20 gold and 8 silver became this year's sponsor of our presentation in Germany. Their Chardonnay RESERVA 2018 was named the best wine from the Czech Republic and the winery earned the overall title of "Best Producer in the Czech Republic".

"The award-winning Chardonnay is made from grapes grown in our 45-year-old vineyards in Ratíškovice. It is yellowish in colour, with a delicate fruity aroma of yellow peaches, accompanied by tropical notes. The palate is full, harmonious, with fresh acidity, long and complex, as the wine was trained for 12 months on fine yeast lees in a large French oak barrel. It is an elegant big wine suitable for bottle ageing," Jiří Toman, oenologist and cellar master of B\V winery, presents the best wine from the Czech Republic at the competition. This Chardonnay follows its previous success, where this year it already won one of the main prizes at the Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg competition in France, where it was named the best dry wine of the competition.

The Habánské sklepy and Vinofol wineries were also successful, winning 2 gold medals and one silver medal. Gold medals were also awarded to wines from the wineries Vinice Hnanice and Víno Mikulov. Silver medals were also awarded to Bohemia Sekt and Víno Masařík.

Over 140 international wine experts gathered in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, Germany, where the 33. MUNDUS VINI competition tasted and evaluated more than 4 thousand wines from 36 wine-growing countries of the world. A total of 1,676 wines were awarded. The gold medal in this worldwide prestigious competition goes to the wine that achieves at least 90 out of 100 points.
