The best oenologist and 34 medals for our wines from Madrid!

The award for the best enologist went to Jiří Toman, chief enologist and cellar master of B\V Vinařství z Milotic u Kyjov, for the bestbest collection and also the best rated wine of the Czech Republic Veltlínské zelené 2021, late harvest. He repeated the same success he had already achieved in 2021.

5 large gold, 24 gold and 5 silver medals

"It's a great feeling and I appreciate the award immensely. Just being in the company of enologists from all over the world and being able to compare myself with them is a great opportunity for me. I already won the award for best oenologist in the white dry category in 2021 and, just like then, this is a huge surprise for me. I also see it as an award for our entire winery and all my colleagues," said Jiří Toman. The winery's wines were also awarded 4 large gold, 12 gold and 3 silver medals. The B\V winery has been successful at the international level for a long time. Recently, it also won the title for the best dry white wine at the Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg competition.

Moravian wines can boast 5 major gold, 24 gold and 5 silver medals. Davinus also scored a major gold medal along with one gold and one silver. Lahofer Winery, Gazaň Winery, Miroslav Volařík and Zámecké vinařství Bzenec have two gold medals each.

"The quality of the competition wines is growing year by year, not only in Madrid, but at all competitions under the VINOFED banner. I have been following this for several years in a row as one of the jury presidents in the Bacchus evaluation. Each medal is now worth more again. In the company of nearly a hundred judges from all over the world, including six Master of Wine winners and several merchants and sommeliers from the "This great success is a great advertisement for the Czech Republic," summarized Miroslav Majer, judge and director of DAVINUS.

Bacchus Madrid is traditionally organised by the Union of Spanish Tasters and is currently the only internationalinternational wine competition in Spain, which is part of VINOFED (World Federation of ImportantInternational Federation of International Wine and Spirits Competitions) and supported by the International Organisation for Wine and Spirits.OIV and the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment (MAGRAMA). The competition is characterised in particular by the participation of a large number of experts, who are united by their high level of professionalism and years of experience in various sectors of the industry.
