The best dry wine of the Strasbourg competition was the Moravian Chardonnay!

Moravian wines did not shine in Strasbourg for the first time this year. It also won the highest award among dry wines in 2022 and 2020, and thus once again made its presence known not only in the organizing France, but throughout Europe.

Best Dry Wine, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon and Sylvan Green

With the VINOFED award for the best dry wine of the competition, i.e. across all varieties, the B&V winery also won the title for the best Chardonnay of the competition and a large gold medal. In addition, the same winery also added the best Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon. The award for the best Sylvanian Green for the winery CHÂTEAU VALTICE - Vinné sklepy Valtice then illustrated the overall outstandingMoravian and Czech wines, which won a total of 6 large gold, 26 gold and 4 silver medals.

"The 2018 RESERVA Chardonnay is made from grapes grown in our 45-year-old vineyards in Ratíškovice. It has a yellowish colour, with a delicate fruity aroma of yellow peaches, accompanied by tropical notes. The palate is full, harmonious, with fresh acidity, long and complex, as the wine was trained for 12 months on fine yeast lees in a large French oak barrel. It is an elegant big wine suitable for bottle ageing," said Jiří Toman, oenologist and cellar master of B\V winery, introducing the best dry wine of the competition.

The original variety bred in the country

The special award, given especially for the 25th anniversary of the winery's winery. Pálava Maidenburg 2022 from the Reisten winery in Pavlov. This year, Tereza Helmová, Pavel Krška, Miroslav Majer and Josef Valihrach, both older and younger, sat on the jury for the Czech Republic.

Our winemakers have been very successful at this competition for a long time. Last year the same award, i.e. the best dry wine of the competition, belonged to the Tramín Red Late Harvest 2020 from the Davinus winery. B\V winery enjoyed the feeling of victory with a year older Chardonnay from the same series already in 2020. In addition, as this year, there were also wins in the individual varieties.

Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg is the only international wine competition specialising in white wines in the world organised under the patronage ofOIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine) and part of VINOFED (World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions).
