The festive atmosphere of this ancient custom is attracting more and more attention from the citizens and visitors of the Slovak metropolis. Whether it is Monday or Sunday, in Uherské Hradiště we always celebrate St. Martin's Day on the 11th. On Friday, 11 November, St. Martin will visit us again on his white horse and hand over the wine to the priest for a symbolic blessing of the new harvest. Visitors will then be able to taste the wines that will be labelled 'St Martin's Day'.
The tasting itself is always preceded by a cultural programme of folklore performances, and we will also see a rendition of the legend of St Martin and his cloak. Throughout the day, wine tasting will be available on Masaryk Square and St Martin's specialities will be available for snacking. All this is accompanied by dulcimer music. Tickets for the event can already be purchased in advance at: https://www.slovacko.cz/zehnanivina/
The Blessing of St. Martin's Wines is prepared by the Municipal Information Centre in Uherské Hradiště in cooperation with the Region Slovácko, an association for the development of tourism.
