Astonishment of the Mountain

The custom of striking a mountain has its roots in the Middle Ages and is based on the old mountain law. It is a sign that the vineyard is open until the vintage, when a "gathering of old men" decides that the mountain is open. The winemakers of the Hustopeč wine streets, Na hradbách and Pod křížovým vrchem open their cellars.
