The LAHOFER winery together with the company Vinice LAHOFER manages 430 hectares of vineyards mainly in the Znojmo wine sub-region, for example on the lines Babičák, U Hájku, Volné Pole, Waldberg, Lampelberg, Šác, Dolina, Špičák, Leskoun and others. The Lahofer Winery also takes care of the Paradise Vineyard on the historic terraces below the St. Nicholas Cathedral near the centre of Znojmo.
The winery derives its name from a native of Dobšice, the artistic carver Jan Lahofer. At the end of the 18th century, he created a unique Baroque library, which is the jewel of the Premonstratensian monastery in Prague's Strahov.
Today, the LAHOFER winery is based on a strong winemaking tradition in the Znojmo region, developed using the most modern winemaking techniques and technologies. LAHOFER produces all wines of all the main Central European varieties exclusively from grapes from its own vineyards (with the exception of a special line of French wines), and sells part of its grape production to other wine producers. In 2012, following the purchase of vineyards and the retrofitting of the wine yard with new technologies, the winery's production capacity was set at a maximum annual production of 800,000 bottles. New additions to the winery's product range recently include non-alcoholic 100% grape musts and single-variety jams also made from grapes.
In 2014, the LAHOFER Winery became a part of the HANZEL Winery in Miroslav, which has been sourcing a substantial part of the raw material for its own production since it increased its production capacity in 2012.
In addition to the Vinařství HANZEL brand and the winery itself, which has a production capacity of approximately one hundred and twenty thousand bottles per year, Vinařství LAHOFER has also expanded its portfolio with the historic building of the Miroslav winery, which has been newly renovated into a hotel with a stylish wine bar, restaurant and training centre. In 2019, LAHOFER Winery completed a new modern winery. Since 2018, the LAHOFER Group also includes a winery with a long history - the WALDBERG winery.
