Around five hundred wines of selected varieties to taste, literary conferences with readings by Martin Severa or Alexander Tomský and a charity auction of rare bottles. This is the programme of the traditional Wine Day, which will be organised by the Folklore Studio Buchlovice on Saturday 1 April in the Buchlov Hotel.

Before the tasting, which starts at 4 pm, the Wine Day programme will start at 1.30 pm with a literary conference, this time on the theme of Wine and Drought. Former TV presenter Martin Severa, political scientist and writer Alexander Tomský, the quirky Ostrava blogger Ladislav Větvička and Zlín-based diabetes specialist Emil Záhumenský have promised to present their papers.

This year's representative wine exhibition will offer Sauvignon, Tramín Red, Veltliner Green, Veltliner Early Red, Florianka, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Moravia, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Cortis, Frankovka and also selected rosé wines.

The best wines will be awarded the title of champions of the show, the final ranking will be decided by a hundred-point system by professional tasters on Sunday 26 April. Two dulcimer bands - Rubáš from Buchlovice and Denica from Zlín - will add to the atmosphere.

The charity auction of rare bottles will take place at 6 pm and will help Verunka Vyhnalíková from Uherské Hradiště. The 15-year-old girl was born prematurely with a birth weight of 700 grams, has undergone many operations, suffers from blindness, motor disabilities, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. She is trying to get back on her feet, rehabilitate and try alternative approaches, which is costly for her single mother.

The auction is being held in partnership with the VIAIVA Foundation and standard auction rules are being followed.

Transportation to a more remote location adjacent to Buchlova Castle will be provided by free shuttle buses. The bus will leave from Uherské Hradiště's Politických vězňů Street at 3 pm and from Buchlovice Square at 3.45 pm. In the opposite direction, the line departs at 18.30, 19.30, 20.30 and 21.30. Visitors also have the opportunity to book an overnight stay directly at the hotel.
