The conference will include the following sessions: i) pathogen characterisation and identification, ii) epidemiology, iii) pathogen-plant interactions, iv) microbial ecology and v) vineyard and nursery protection. From a practical perspective, viticulturists will be able to understand what fungi cause specific diseases and how to prevent their spread, which is the subject of research by a group of presenting leaders in the field. The epidemiology section will provide information on the distribution of each fungal species, and this section will also describe alternative hosts and climatic factors that aid the spread of pathogenic fungi. The pathogen-vine interaction section will discuss the interrelationships between the two organisms with an emphasis on plant defense mechanisms. Microbial ecology will discuss the interactions of pathogens with their environment. The last section will then address the protection of grapevines against these serious pathogens. The language of the conference will be English; in case of more than 20 participants from Czech growers, translation will be provided. The discounted fee for Czech attendees is CZK 3,500 and it is also possible to book an excursion and gala dinner.
